In Germany we celebrate Muttertag on the 8th of May. My mom always gets some "girly stuff" as a present like cosmetics. But this year when I started knitting more than ever - #nevernotknitting - I decided to knit her something.
Not just something though, of course. I wanted a summer shirt for her, soft and lightweight, rather plain with some small decorative details (which is just my - and her - kind of style).
So I needed a yarn that would to the job. First I thought of Ito Asa which is perfect for warm summer days. Last year I knitted a shirt with it and I really love it.
But then I found a wonderful yarn that made me decide otherwise: Findley Dappered by Juniper Moon Farm.
It is half merino, half silk - and as soft as you can possibly imagine and comes in gorgeous colours.
After I had the yarn the design just came to my mind. I wanted a rather plain shirt with very small sleeves and just some knitted lace in the décolleté area at the front and the back. I tried a lot of different lace patterns until I found the perfect one. But then the rest of the design was easy.
The problem just is: I couldn't finish it in time even though I really knitted a lot in the last days. But there are still missing some details. So my mum will have to wait for her present some more days and you will have to wait some more days for the photos.
But the good news is: I will write it down as a pattern for you all. If you like it it will make the perfect summer knitting and a beautiful shirt!
